It goes without saying that trust is essential when it comes to online gambling. These systems rely on three elements: a server seed, a client seed, and a nonce (unique round counter). Before a round gets going, a random server seed gets generated on the casino site, and it publishes only its cryptographic hash using the SHA-256 algorithm, customarily. This hash cannot be changed. Players are allowed to set their seed, the client one, and when the round ends, the casino reveals the unhashed server seed, letting players recompute the hash to confirm it matches the original commitment.

Though these systems are technically not derived from blockchain tech, they are built on cryptographic principles, ones that predate crypto.
